When you’re about to head out on a boat trip with your friends and family, you need to ensure that you’re adequately prepared for the adventure. Being ready means that you won’t have to panic in a crisis about whatever you’ve forgotten. In order to relax on your trip, you’ll want to pack these items so that everyone can be comfortable and safe.

Documentation

Make sure that you’ve got all of the necessary documents on your boat when you’re heading out, including your insurance and registration, along with your license and personal identification. A waterproof pouch can help protect these documents, and it’s also a good idea to keep photocopies of these items somewhere safe at home in case they get damaged or lost.

Weather Gear

Whether you’re boating in the summer or winter, preparing for the weather is important. You’ll want plenty of sunscreen, sun hats, and long-sleeved garments to protect your skin in the sun. In the winter or in rainy weather, ponchos, jackets, gloves, hats, and scarves are necessary. Pack some extra blankets and clothing to keep everyone warm out on the water.

Comfort

Snacks and drinks are a must for a successful boat trip. Pack a cooler with soda, bottled water, and juice boxes, along with snacks like granola, crackers, sandwiches, cheese, and fresh fruit. You should also make sure you’ve got a first-aid kit with painkillers, antacids, bandages, and other medical needs, along with any medications that anyone on your boat takes regularly.
